This week, Mingary Care joined with communities across Australia to recognise National Palliative Care Week. This annual event is a time to honour the amazing people who dedicate their lives to supporting others through one of life’s most profound journeys.
Last Tuesday, our Managing Director, Sue Mason-Baker, had the privilege of attending a special afternoon tea at Government House in Brisbane, representing Mingary Care. This cherished annual gathering is not only an opportunity to reflect on the vital work being done in palliative and end-of-life care, it’s also a moment to connect with passionate colleagues like Sarah Bone from Down Syndrome Queensland and Dr Prem Ram from the Specialist Palliative Care Team.
With sunshine overhead, heartfelt conversations, and dainty sandwiches and desserts, the afternoon was filled with warmth and shared purpose. And as always, the weather was just right for the traditional photo on the steps.
This year’s theme, ‘What’s Your Plan?’, encourages us all to think about how we care for each other with intention and dignity. To mark the occasion, Mingary Care partnered with Ambulance Wish Queensland (AWQ) and Country to Coast Queensland to host a beautiful community event at Alex Surf Club.
The specially equipped ambulance, Usha, was on-site to help raise awareness of the AWQ program, which helps grant final wishes for those at the end of life – reminding us that even in the most challenging times, joy and meaning are still possible.

We are incredibly proud to be a foundation sponsor of the AWQ program. Knowing that our collective efforts can bring comfort and fulfilment to individuals and their families in their final moments is both humbling and deeply moving.
Mingary proudly supported Bruce and his family with a package of care and through our sponsorship of the AWQ program, we were also able to provide his end-of-life wish.

A heartfelt thank you to Country to Coast Queensland for issuing a joint media release on behalf of AWQ and Mingary Care.
